Sales of the luxury Genesis sedan (in translation - the appearance) started in December 2007. The debut coincided with the 40th anniversary of the company. For Hyundai this is the first attempt to break into the segment of executive class sedans. According to the company, Genesis will compete with Infiniti, Lexus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz cars.
The car is built on a completely new rear-wheel drive architecture. It has an almost perfect ratio of the weight distribution of the front and rear parts in the proportion of 52:48. In the production of Genesis, gluing technology is used, which complements the traditional body welding. When it reaches 120 km / h, the car automatically reduces ground clearance to 15 mm, providing optimal aerodynamic performance. The electronic system of continuous control of the rigidity of gas shock absorbers (CDC) ensures a comfortable ride, regardless of road conditions. There are Sports, High and Low modes that meet the individual needs of the driver. In the headlight system, instead of conventional xenon lamps, lamps with lower energy consumption and with higher light intensity (HID) are used, which in their characteristics are close to daylight. In addition, Genesis headlights automatically adjust the lighting in the direction of maneuver. The car, if desired, can be equipped with an adaptive lighting system (AFLS).
