Honda Beat - car review

Photo Honda Beat

The Honda Beat is a small subcompact sports convertible with a mid-range engine. This model was produced by the Japanese car company Honda in the period from May 1991 to February 1996. The total number of cars assembled is approximately 33,000, with about two thirds of this quantity produced in the first year, and sales have steadily declined in the following years.

The car was very small, one might say tiny. In Japan, there was even a new class called kei car, which meant very small cars. Honda Beat wheelbase was 2280 mm, body length - 3295 mm, width - 1395 mm, height - 1175 mm. The Honda Beat car was completed with a 12-valve 3-cylinder atmospheric engine SOHC I3 E07A with a total volume of 656 cubic centimeters, whose power was 64 hp at 8100 rpm, which at that time was the highest figure among compact small cars. This motor was equipped with an engine control system MTREC (Multi Throttle Responsive Engine Control).

As for the transmission, only one option was offered - a manual 5-speed gearbox. The front and rear suspension of the Honda Beat car were single lever McPherson. The brakes on all the wheels of the subcompact were disc. Inside, everything is quite comfortable, but for greater comfort, the car was equipped with air conditioning and power windows. The following options were also offered for the Honda Beat: driver's airbag installation, mud flaps, passenger lighting, audio system, luggage rack, luggage net, chrome-plated gas tank cap, stainless steel tailpipe, rear spoiler with built-in additional brake light , leather sports steering wheel company Momo.

It is worth noting that there were two options for picking Honda Beat: PP1-100 and PP1-110. Model PP1-100 was a standard package, for which four body colors were offered: white, yellow, red and silver-gray. But the PP1-110 model already had some technical differences, such as, for example, the presence of the anti-lock braking system ABS and the differential with limited slip of the LSD. There were also a few limited Honda Beat series: Version F, Version C, and Version Z. The Honda Beat cars of the Version F series were only 800 pieces, the only difference from standard models was the special body color - green metallic.

Version C series had the same distinctive features, only the color was metallic blue. Total Version C was released 500 cars. But the Version Z was distinguished from the standard model by the presence of ABS and LSD, black dashboard in contrast to the standard white.
