The two-door four-seater sports car Fiat Coupe was first unveiled at the Brussels Auto Show in 1993. Its predecessor is FIAT Dino. Production of the Coupe model was launched in Turin, Italy. The appearance of this model was developed by Chris Bracelet, and the interior of the cabin was created by the famous Pininfarina atelier. Perhaps that is why the car turned out so bright, dynamic and moderately aggressive.
The severity of character emphasizes the red calipers, the perforations on the front brake discs and the polished aluminum cap of the gas tank in the style of a racing car that is exposed. Slightly convex headlights give the appearance of attractiveness. The style of the interior is an organic continuation of the exterior.
But inside the Fiat Coupe is more traditional than the outside. A painted in the body color strip on the front panel, through which separate round devices peep, is a completely forgotten classic. Dark red leather, inserts labeled "pininfarina" and no architectural excesses. Puffy leather steering wheel has two adjustments (height and length of the column). Devices - as in the plane, including a voltmeter, an indicator of pressure and oil temperature. Driving vanity will amuse a large aluminum engine start button - everything, like in real racing cars. But with all its foppishness, the Fiat Coupe is quite practical.
Living room comfortable. The rear seats are very comfortable for both children and adults, unlike most two-door cars, the trunk is roomy (almost 300 liters). Three years later, the car was restyled. Outside, except for the new grille, Fiat Coupe has not changed much. All the stylish details distinguishing him from the “crowd” were left.
Added several new more powerful power units. First, it is a powerful two-chamber, five-cylinder, with a 2.0-liter engine with speed control. It was offered in two versions: atmospheric power of 147 hp and turbo power 220 hp With the turbine, this car becomes a real beast. It develops a maximum speed of 250 km / h, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.5 seconds. Of the front-wheel-drive European cars, the Fiat Coupe was one of the fastest for its time.
The most modest in the engine lineup is a four-cylinder, 1.8-liter gasoline engine with a power of 130 hp. Gearbox - five-speed manual. Fiat Coupe has excellent handling and good road behavior. Hard accurate suspension allows you to perfectly feel the road and filigree to prescribe the path. All wheels have disc brakes. The basic package includes anti-slip system, power steering, anti-theft system, immobilizer, airbags, central locking, power windows, alloy wheels and audio system for cassettes.
In 1998, a modification of the FIAT Coupe Limited Edition (LE) appeared with improved options, a copy of which was acquired by Michael Schumacher at number 1. From the closest competitors Mercedes CLK and Porsche Boxter Fiat Coupe has a lower price.
