The Eos is the first coupe-cabriolet in the Volkswagen model range. The car borrowed its name from the goddess of dawn from Greek mythology, which rose in its chariot from the depths of the sea and brought sunlight to people. In addition, Eos is the mother of the winds and the name of the star, which is visible both in the morning and in the evening.
So, the German manufacturer not only gave the name a touch of romance, but also preserved the continuity of names (most models of this brand are named after different winds). The appearance of the Eos is quite harmonious. Headlights are similar in shape to those of the Polo, but are unique in performance. Designers obviously did a great job to create a distinctive, memorable image and at the same time give their creation a certain charm and novelty. Naturally, the main thing in the new coupe-cabriolet is a folding roof. Depending on the weather, desire and mood during the trip, the roof of the car can be closed or traveling under the open sky.
Eos easily turns from a coupe into a convertible. Designed specifically for him, the CSC roof fully folds in 25 seconds, allowing you to enjoy the fresh air. It is convenient to control the CSC roof: with a single switch on the center console. An optional windscreen barrier will relieve you from the discomfort caused by air turbulence behind your head. Eos is equipped with a sliding and sliding glass hatch built into the roof.
Therefore, even with the roof closed, you can maintain a pleasant atmosphere by letting the required amount of fresh air into the cabin. In addition, for the first time, the Eos Volkswagen used the Electric Power Entry system: the driver and front passenger seats remember their position, move back and as a result of pressing the button they return back after passengers sit in the backseat or get out of the car. Eos boasts a decent trunk. If the roof is open, its volume is 205 liters, and if it is closed, a compartment with a capacity of 380 liters is offered for luggage.
Under the hood, the Eos is a temperamental V6 engine with a displacement of 3.2 liters and a power of 250 hp. This power allows the speedometer to reach the mark of 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds, even though the curb weight of the car is 1713 kg. The power unit consumes 9.2–9.3 liters of fuel per 100 km, and CO2 emissions are 221–223 g / km.
Power transmission is carried out using a 6-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG). The range of engines also includes three powerful units with a system of fiber injection (FSI) with a capacity of 115 liters. from. up to 200 l. from. FSI is a new direct injection technology, in which high-pressure fuel is fed directly into the combustion chamber. The result is a high dynamics and engine response with moderate fuel consumption.
The VW Eos basic package includes front airbags and side airbags to protect the head and chest, active head restraints, ESP stability control, air conditioning and power windows, fog lights, exterior interior lights, leather steering wheel, gear lever knob and the handle of the parking brake lever, as well as branded 16-inch alloy wheels and sport seats. As an additional equipment for the Eos, the Dynaudio audio system with a 10-channel amplifier, 10 speakers and an output power of 600 W, bi-xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights and static side light and some other innovative innovations are offered.
Like all modern cabriolets, Eos is equipped with a mechanical protection of passengers in case of overturning - in case of danger, the power bar “grows” behind the passengers in 0.25 seconds.
