NISSAN Almera Tino (simply Tino in Japan) is a compact minivan based on the Sunny model (Japanese version of the Nissan Almera). It is a versatile vehicle for everyday driving in the city (especially with a CVT variator), and for the transport of bulky household goods, and for long journeys by a large family. The car was first shown in the fall of 1998. The prototype of the European modification was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring of 1999, and a year later it was launched at the Nissan Motor Iberica plant in Barcelona (Spain).
The work on Tino took three years and was carried out mainly by European experts at the Nissan Technical Center in the UK. It is expected that the Almera Tino will gradually replace the already outdated 5-door wagon Sunny Traveler. At the same time, the 1.8-liter engine is equipped with a 4-speed hydromechanical “automatic”, a 2.0-liter engine with a continuously variable CVT automatic transmission, Basically, it is a V-belt variator with a push-type metal belt, which, when the pedal is pressed into the floor, spins the engine up to 5,000 rpm. But the difficulty lies in the fact that it is rather difficult to predict the action of the variator: energetic overclocking is uneven. The car starts to move reluctantly - low start failed.
Then, as if thinking better, the car wakes up, and the acceleration becomes really overclocking. And so all the time. On the variator selector is located in the button "sport" - a sports transmission mode! In this mode, the car literally follows the accelerator pedal! For some markets, a 1.6-liter gasoline unit is also provided. Tino is equipped with disc brakes on all wheels and ABS.
