Peugeot Expert’s cargo and cargo-passenger vehicles have been mass-produced since 1995 at the new joint venture SEVEL in the south of France, along with identical models of Citroen Jumpy and FIAT Scudo. The basis for the Expert series was the Peugeot 806 minivan. In 2004, the car was upgraded. It differs from its counterparts in the design of the front facing.
While maintaining the oval-shaped light devices, the middle part of the Expert model's grille is made in the spirit of the larger Boxer vans, in continuation of the development of a single corporate style. Despite a number of external differences and a more complete set of additional equipment, the overall design of the van has not undergone significant changes. The car was offered in 15 basic versions with one wheelbase size (2824 mm) and one option for the height of the roof (1290 mm). The all-metal body with a capacity of 4 m³ has one side and two rear hinged doors.
Break cargo and passenger versions with tinted windows are equipped with additional removable seats for 5–9 people with sub-ceiling storage shelves for each row of seats. They are produced mainly on the long-chassis chassis (3224 mm) with a lifting capacity of 795 kg, which allows to increase the volume of the body to five cubic meters. The range of previously used engines was slightly reduced, but it was replenished with the most economical and environmentally friendly 4-cylinder 2-liter 2.0HDi diesel engine with direct fuel injection. Its 94-strong version is intended for vans, the 109 hp version is installed on the cargo-and-passenger versions.
Such a car can reach a maximum speed of 165 km / h and in the city consume an average of 7.9 liters of fuel per 100 km. The most powerful is the car with a gasoline 2-liter 16-valve engine in 136 hp It reaches a speed of 175 km / h, but the fuel consumption in the urban cycle is within 12.0 liters per 100 km.
The specificity of the Expert series is its high practicality, which is reflected in the installation of rear doors with different widths of the flaps and different opening angles, a protective grille behind the driver’s seat, a double passenger seat with folding backs, special fixings and a roof rack, a ladder in the rear, additional internal safety doors in the cargo hold and towing hook, as well as the presence in the program of the chassis with a cabin for mounting different bodies. In 2007, a new generation of Expert appeared in Europe, including two new modifications: the Peugeot Expert and Peugeot Expert Tepee compact vans, combining the features of a commercial and passenger car.
The third generation of the model was created through the collaboration of PSA Peugeot Citroen and Fiat. The official presentation took place on November 7 at the Servel Nord plant in France in the presence of Mr. Jean-Martin Foltz, head of the PSA Group and Sergio Markion, President of the FIAT Group. The new Peugeot Expert is focused on two main groups of consumers: entrepreneurs, whose activities are directly related to the transportation of various goods and groups of people, and individuals who need a large, roomy car at an affordable price.
Compact van Expert offers a greater number of versions than before: two options for the length of the wheelbase and two options for the height of the roof. The new model range of Peugeot Expert vans is presented in 9 silhouettes, involving 400 different modifications, each of which allows you to choose a model (in length and height) in accordance with the type of activity of the future owner. In addition, the new models are more, compared with previous versions, vans load capacity and capacity. The longest and highest version of the van has a load capacity of up to 1200 kg and allows you to transport cargo up to 7m³.
The height of the van is 1,894 m, which does not prevent the parking of the car in underground parking. Increasing the level of comfort has also become one of the main areas of development of the model. The architecture of the new Peugeot Expert provides the most comfortable fit for the driver. The cabin of the van is spacious and well lit. Thanks to the large glazing area and elongated windshield, a feeling of space and freedom is created. The well-known design company Pininfarina, who designed the interior, took care of comfort.
Special attention was paid to the safety of passengers and transported goods: airbags, ABS, anti-tipping system ROM, parking sensors, cruise control, GPS navigation system. Expert even gives you the opportunity to block / unlock the rear cargo part of the car, regardless of the passenger cabin - either with a special remote control or from the driver’s seat. The engine range includes diesel HDi: 1.6-liter capacity of 90 hp, 2-liter capacity of 120 hp, 2-liter capacity of 136 hp, as well as a petrol version with a 140-horsepower engine 2 liters. All engines comply with Euro-4 standard. All versions are aggregated six-speed manual transmission.
A real innovation is the rear air suspension, which makes it possible to lower the height of the car. New Expert Tepee harmoniously combines such qualities as active and dynamic behavior on the road, a high level of active and passive safety and comfort of the participants in the movement. Inside the car seats can be installed in two rows. At the same time, passengers enter the cabin through a side sliding door equipped with an easy-access system. Peugeot Expert Tepee is available in three finishes: Confort, Loisirs and Premium. Each version has its original color of the dashboard, seat upholstery, trim the back of the car and door handles.
