The presentation of the concept car Peugeot 307 SS was held at the Paris Motor Show in 2002. A year later, the car was put into mass production. The decision to release a Peugeot 307 convertible is clearly based on the success of the 206 series. But the second coupe-cabriolet in the range of Peugeot has become much more practical, more convenient and more representative. If only because it is made on the basis of the highest-ranked 307th model, with which it has many common external features. But there are tangible differences from the serial 307 version, namely the lower and inclined windshield, giving a stylish swift appearance, and an angular bumper.
Due to this, it was possible to improve the aerodynamics of the car and to achieve the almost complete absence of air flow in the cabin of a convertible. But the silhouette of the rear part recalls the concept cars Peugeot RC, it has become more expressive than the hatchback. One of the advantages of the 307 SS compared to the 206 CC is that in a convertible can accommodate 4 adults without special restrictions.
The dimensions of the car: length 4.34 meters, wheelbase 2.61 m, height with the roof raised 1.42 m. From the 206 CC cabriolet got the technology of automatic closing - opening the hard roof. But if the Peugeot 206 CC had to manually unlock the roof, the “big brother” was relieved of this inconvenience. In general, the car has a fairly memorable elegant appearance. The car's interior has not changed much and is the same layout and design as the serial 307 model. Salon Peugeot 307 CC is sporty, rational and comfortable at the same time. There are seven trim options: 2 fabric, 1 half-leather, and 4 full leather salons.
And eight colors of body paint. The seats are devoid of electrical adjustments, but have developed lateral support and are extremely comfortable. The instrument panel has white scales, edged with chrome rings. The plump steering wheel is decorated with brushed aluminum inserts. The center console is silver in color, which contains the climate control unit, a pair of vents of the ventilation system, buttons for switching on additional equipment, and a radio tape recorder. Under the hood, the Peugeot 307 CC can hide a two-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 136 hp. or more powerful engine (177 hp).
The power units are paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, or a five-speed manual. When the roof is raised, the trunk can offer 350 liters of volume, and when the luggage space is removed, it is reduced to 204 liters. In terms of safety, the Peugeot 307 SS also has significant differences from the normal hatchback.
These are thick pipes extending from the thresholds to the very edges of the windshield struts, reinforced bottom and sidewalls of the body, safety arches, which, when the possibility of a coup occurs in the open version, automatically shoot behind the rear head restraints. Peugeot 307 CC - unsurpassed stability on the road, power and excellent handling.
