Hyundai ix20 - compact monocab, which is built on the same platform as the i20 hatchback, Kia Venga and Kia Soul. The car is a mixture of a minivan and a hatchback; in the model lineup of the Korean manufacturer, it replaced the Matrix model. It was first shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2010. Produced at the new plant of Hyundai in the Czech Republic. The design of the model is made in the traditional Hyundai style - “liquid sculpture”. The exterior is distinguished by a pronounced wedge-shaped silhouette and a raised rear part. In front of the ix20 are two air intakes, which are combined into a single unit. A large trapezoidal grille characteristic of current Hyundai models.
Headlights have a peculiar shape, developed by a European design center located in Rüsselsheim. The car reaches a length of 4100 mm. The base, which is 2615 mm in size, turned out to be quite large, with a width of 1765 mm and a height of 1600 mm. Such dimensions provide sufficient internal space, which is very generous not only on the first, but also on the second row.
The front seats of the car are very comfortable. Landing is quite high, and together with the glass area provides excellent visibility. The steering column is adjustable in two directions. The capacity of the trunk is 440 liters, while, if you fold the rear seats, you can get a compartment, the volume of which will be equal to 1486 liters. In the basic configuration, the ix20 is equipped with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with a power of 90 horsepower, while acceleration to the first hundred will take only 12.9 seconds. Fuel consumption per hundred kilometers 5.1 liters in the urban cycle and 6.6 liters in the urban cycle.
There are in the lineup of power units and a more powerful gasoline engine of 1.6 liters and 125 hp. For fuel economy, an ISG system is installed, temporarily silencing the engine when transport is stopped. There are diesel versions.
The most economical 1.4 liter capacity of 89 horsepower, acceleration to the first hundred takes 14.5 seconds. In the urban cycle, the engine spends 4.7 liters per one hundred kilometers, and 4.2 liters in the country one. Three gearboxes - six-speed "mechanics" is installed on all versions, except the younger, gasoline, which is set to 5-speed manual transmission, and a 4-band automatic can only be combined with a 125-horsepower gasoline engine. The machine, by the way, was inherited from the Hyundai i30. Mechanical boxes are completely new. In the maximum configuration ix20 has a navigation system with a 6.5-inch color monitor, Bluetooth audio system and a panoramic roof.
An independent organization, Euro NCAP, assigned the car a maximum rating. Hyundai ix20 perfectly demonstrated itself when testing with dummies that imitated one and a half year old and three year old children, the car received an estimate of 85% of small passengers.
