The full-length Pacifica crossover wagon was first introduced at NAIAS'2002 in Detroit as a concept car and a lot of visitors were puzzled. It was not clear to which class the new product is attributed: the Pacifica has too little ground clearance for the Sport Utility, and the car is quite massive for an ordinary car (5049x1999x1689 mm, wheelbase 2954 mm). In short, it turned out the car, harmoniously combining the comfort and controllability of a full-size sedan, with a spacious interior and the spirit of an SUV. The creators of Chrysler Pacifica dubbed their offspring Sport Tourer: loosely translated - "sports and tourist vehicle." And the car is 100% consistent with this name.
Going on a trip on it is a sweet affair! It is noteworthy that a model completely identical to the concept went to the conveyor, which happens very rarely. Mass production was started a year later, in January 2003, at a plant in Windsor (Ontario).
To launch a new model, the company invested almost $ 460 million. The car has a fairly European appearance, unlike other Chrysler cars. For the 2006 model year, two types of engines are offered - the base 3.8 l V6 12V (210 hp, 323 Nm for front-wheel drive versions and 3.5-liter V6 24V (250 hp, 339 Nm) for Pacfica Touring FWD versions and all-wheel-drive versions. The equipment of the most expensive version of the Limited includes a system of automatically connected all-wheel drive, ABS and TC, expensive leather trim, wood panels, 19-inch chrome wheels, a multifunction steering wheel with a combined leather-wooden trim, 8 airbags, including side curtains, parking sensors, "double" sunroof.
By the 2007 model year, Daimler Chrysler has prepared an updated Pacifica with an improved and modified V6 engine of 4 liters and a new six-speed gearbox. Power unit reaches 255 hp at 6000 rpm, the torque is 360 Nm at 4200 rpm. The new gearbox improves engine efficiency by 30%, increasing the speed of low engine speeds and allowing you to accelerate faster at the start.
In addition to the new aluminum engine, the Pacifica received an independent suspension, directional stability, electronic throttle control, anti-skid braking system and parking sensors with a rear-view camera, as well as side airbags and curtain airbags around the cabin, two-chamber airbags in front and an additional airbag protecting driver's knees. In the NHTSA head-on and side-impact tests, the model received five stars, it was also given four stars for its resistance to turning over. As before, in the model range there is a Chrysler Pacifica Touring in the station wagon, cars are available in both front and all-wheel drive version and in various trim levels.
The exterior of the Chrysler Pacifica remains easily recognizable: traditional-shaped headlights, built-in foglights, a wide chrome lining on the front of the bonnet, three crisp lines on the grille and a winged Chrysler logo hovering above it. For the Chrysler Pacifica 2007 model year, the company has developed nine trendy body colors. The immobilizer, a multifunction steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth training and an infrared port for wirelessly connecting voice-activated phones are included in the various equipment packages.
The seats are covered with leather or YES Essentials® patented material, whose fibers do not absorb odors, make it easy to remove stains, and do not electrify; the knob of the gearshift lever can be leather or wooden.
