Rover Streetwise - car review

The Rover Streetwise is a compact car that was first introduced by the British car company Rover in 2003. The compact was built on the basis of the model Rover 25, which has been produced since 1999. In general, this is the same 25th model, the main difference of which is a new unpainted plastic bumper and protective body kit in a circle, roof bars, 16-inch wheels, as well as increased ground clearance (167 mm). Note that Streetwise was very practical due to unpainted plastic elements of the body, which excluded the appearance of annoying small chips and scratches as a result of unsuccessful parking or a blow by an inadvertently open door.

Rover presented the Streetwise version as a โ€œadapted for the cityโ€ modification of the Rover 25. The Rover Streetwise is offered in two body styles: 3-door and 5-door hatchback. In the basic configuration, the car had four seats, but as an option, the manufacturer also offered a 5-seater saloon. The wheelbase of the car was - 2 500 mm, body length - 3 980 mm, width - 1 950 mm, and height - 1 500 mm. For the Rover Streetwise model there were four engine options: petrol four-cylinder power units with volumes of 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters, as well as a 2.0-liter turbo diesel.

As for the transmission, a 5-speed manual transmission was installed here, and for configuration with a 1.8-liter engine, a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) variator from the German company ZF Sachs AG was offered. The suspension design of the Streetwise is original and has nothing to do with that used in the Rover 25. The front independent suspension included MacPherson struts, coil spring dampers and an anti-roll bar. It is worth noting that the front levers were strengthened. The rear suspension is semi-independent with a strong I-beam and shock absorbers with coil springs.

As mentioned above, the standard salon - four. Two separate seats were installed at the back, and between them was a plastic panel with a compartment for small items. All seats had developed lateral support. In the interior trim was used quite high-quality leather.

The standard equipment on the Rover Streetwise model already included front electric windows, a driver-side airbag, ABS anti-lock braking system and a CD player. As an option, leather steering wheel, air conditioning and parking sensors (parking sensors) were offered. The production of the Rover Streetwise model was completed in April 2005, like the rest of the Rover cars.
