In April 2014, the German automaker presented at the Beijing auto show a prototype of the Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe, which turned into a serial coupe called the GLE Coupe. Its world premiere was held at the Detroit Motor Show 2015, and the Europeans were shown a novelty at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015. Coupe-shaped Mercedes GLE Coupe is a kind of Stuttgart response to the Bavarian BMW X6, which in 2014 experienced a generation change. The car is built on the basis of an unrepresented updated Mercedes ML, which, in accordance with the amended principle of naming Mercedes models, became known as GLE.
Thus, the original design of the front of the Mercedes GLE Coupe will soon try on a regular GLE. Classically, one of the leading roles of the frontal appearance is assigned to headlamps. The novelty flaunts neat shades with adaptive xenon and ribbons of LED running lights.
The seriousness of the model is underlined by a large textured false radiator grille decorated with a large Mercedes company nameplate and a massive front bumper with air intake sections. As an option, you can order wheels size 275/45 R21 for the front axle and 315/40 R21 for the rear. The GLE450 AMG Coupe version sports various-sized tires on elegant 22-inch wheels, tires are mounted on the front - 285/40 R22, and 325/35 R22 on the back. The Mercedes GLE Coupe, like its direct competitor BMW X6, combines the charisma and practicality of the crossover with a stylish and elegant coupe.
The overall dimensions of the GLE Coupe are 4900 mm long, 2003 mm wide, 1731 mm high, with 2915 mm wheelbase and ground clearance of 200 mm when installing a standard spring suspension and 180-255 mm with Airmatic air suspension (optional) . The wide and high doorway will provide a comfortable fit in the rear seats. The manufacturer did not indicate exact figures regarding the standard amount of luggage. On the other hand, he noted that with the rear backrests folded, the luggage space increases to 1,650 liters. By the way, this is a record for the class of coupe-shaped crossovers.
The interior fully corresponds to the high premium level of the German brand. Quality finishing materials, excellent ergonomics, the mass of modern equipment and security systems. In the presence of a compact multifunction steering wheel, informative dashboard, on which is located a color screen with a variety of available functions, sports seats front row with an emphasis on lateral support, competent organization and equipment placement on the center console.

The base for the new offer spring suspension, but as an option is available and pneumatic. All-wheel drive system is available as standard for all versions. Only the AMG version will have a slightly different torque distribution - 40 percent for the front wheels, and 60 percent for the rear.
Among the available engines are two petrol and one diesel. All of them work in tandem with the automatic gearbox 9G-Tronic. The diesel version called the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d Coupe has a 3.0-liter V6 engine rated at 258 hp. and 620 Nm of torque.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 Coupe version received a bi-turbo gasoline engine for 3 liters of a working volume of 333 hp. and 480 Nm of torque. The most powerful version of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG Coupe also received a 3.0-liter engine, but already forced to 367 hp. and 520 Nm.
