The Mercedes-Benz company is positioning this model, its cost and equipment between the Mercedes E-Class sedans and the Mercedes S-Class, the abbreviation CLS speaks about it. At the heart of the Mercedes CLS is the platform from the E-class, from which the wheelbase and the engine range are borrowed, but the body of the car is brand new. CLS has received other than the E-class headlights, which used to be four. In general, the front part of the 4-door coupe is completely different from the E-class, it looks very dynamic.
The design of the car is made in the best traditions of the brand: streamlined appearance, long hood, sloping roofline, high window sill and spectacular podshtampovka, stretching from the front wheel well to the lower edge of the cover of a short high trunk. Inside the car is spacious, as in a full-size sedan, which is not surprising with the very impressive dimensions of the Mercedes CLS: car length 4.91 meters, height 1.38 meters, wheelbase is 2.854 mm. The interior design is made of cream-colored leather, the front part with wooden inserts and numerous onboard system control keys. There are not very many technical innovations due to the 85% unification of units and aggregates with the E-class, but they are significant.

(By the way, the complex shape of their lampshades suggests that the famous “big-eyed” front end on the E-class will soon come to an end.) In 2008, there was a new round in the history of the CLS model. The updated model is not much, but it is still different from what was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004. The new strokes inscribed in the old contours made the appearance of the four-door coupe even more solid and not so heavy. In front of the new grille with two crossbars instead of four, and a gray mesh covering the space behind the grille and air intake opening in the bumper. Engineers from Stuttgart are not limited to design delights. The updated basic version of the CLS uses a new V-shaped "six" with a working volume of 2996 cm3. The rated power of the power unit is equal to 231 hp, and the maximum torque of 300 Nm is reached at 2500 revolutions of the crankshaft and holds up to 5000 revolutions.
