Hyundai Grand Santa Fe - car review

Hyundai Grand Santa Fe is a seven-seater crossover from a Korean manufacturer, which replaced the 2012 ix55, which did not gain much success. The European premiere of the car took place in 2013 at the motor show in Geneva. The recipe for the birth of a new crossover is quite simple: Koreans have completely constructed it on the basis of the usual Santa Fe.

The wheelbase was stretched by 100 mm: the big Santa Fe is 10 mm taller than the younger brother, wider by 5 mm and longer by 225 mm. This made it possible to provide 50 mm of extra legroom and 10 mm overhead of the passengers of the second row of seats, and 35 mm and 33 mm, respectively, for passengers of the third row of seats. Grand Santa Fe is offered exclusively with three rows of seats. Depending on the needs of the buyer, you can choose an interior designed for 6 or 7 people. The first has two separate seats for the second row of seats, the second three-seater sofa, with the ability to fold the back of three parts in a ratio of 40:20:40.

The exterior of the Grand Santa Fe is distinguished by a new wider grille, a more massive bumper, other lighting technology and foggy optics of the original design. The rear doors are much longer (this is done to facilitate access to the third row of seats). The volume of the cargo compartment is also solid: with the third-row seats folded down and taking into account the compartment hidden under the boot floor, it is 634 liters. The car interior, in comparison with the small version, looks simply huge. Inside, space was added to everyone - both to the driver and passengers.

At the same time, the Grand Santa Fe is practically no different from the younger model in furnishing and interior design. The stylish, deeply recessed wells of the dials of the dashboard, the unusual serpentine design of the center console with the multimedia system shifted from the base model. In general, the quality of materials and trim is quite high. Other features of the Grand Santa Fe include an electric tailgate and electric power steering with three different modes, and on the whole car a complete set of security systems and a rich list of standard assistance and entertainment equipment.

In the top-end High-Tech configuration, the crossover is equipped with a heated steering wheel, 2-zone climate control with an air ionizer, 19-inch wheels with a tire pressure monitoring system, a panoramic roof, adaptive xenon dipped-beam headlamps, LED running lights and rear lights, an automatic parking assistant , air deflectors for passengers in the second row of seats, air conditioning for the third row of seats with a separate control unit, driver and passenger seat ventilation, power tailgate, navigator, music system a theme with ten speakers, a rearview camera, and curtains on the windows of the rear doors.

In Russia, the Grand Santa Fe is represented by two types of engines that work in tandem with a six-speed automatic. The first is a petrol power unit V6 with a displacement of 3.3 liters (271 hp). This engine concern Hyundai uses it on their models since 2003. The second is a 2.2-liter turbo diesel with a capacity of 197 hp. The fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer in a mixed cycle of a diesel unit is 8 liters per hundred, while gasoline consumes already 10 liters. Hyundai FLEXSTEERโ€™s three-mode steering system allows you to select a regular, sporty or comfortable control model.

In the Russian representative office of Hyundai, motorists who are traditionally skeptical of a diesel engine are reassured: the standard equipment includes a heated fuel filter, therefore, as the Koreans assure, there should be no problems starting the car in severe Russian frosts.
