2 series is designed to replace the 1 series coupe as the initial two-door, and also conducts some kind of reorganization of the nomenclature, in which sedans and station wagons will wear odd numbers, while even ones remain behind coupe and convertible cars. "Two" coupe looks much more mature than its predecessor. The novelty received a new head optics, new bumpers, large air intakes and G-shaped taillights. The protruding shoulder line revolves around the entire vehicle and forms a spoiler on the trunk lid. A glance of xenon headlights with LED eyebrows lends a sporty aggression to the model.
Aggressiveness is exacerbated by an elongated hood and upturned stern, characteristic of rear-wheel drive only. Compared to the coupe of the first series, the “dvushka” became larger: the machine added 72 mm (4432 mm) in length, 26 mm (1774 mm) in width, and the front and rear track expanded 41 and 43 mm (1521/1556 mm) 30 mm increased wheelbase (2690 mm). The height of the car on the contrary decreased by 5 millimeters and is 1,418 millimeters. The result is a more spacious interior and a 390-liter trunk (+20 liters). On the BMW 2-series, even long-lengths can be transported - the back of the rear seat folds down, plus an optional backrest with three sections is optional.
The interior is heavily influenced by the 1-series, equipped with fabric seats and silver trim in the base. Options include leather, polished aluminum or wood, and a 6.5 or 8.8-inch iDrive display. The engine range includes two petrol and three diesel units. The BMW 220i has a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo with a four-cylinder power of 184 hp. at 5000–6250 rpm and 270 Nm of torque in the range of 1250–4500 rpm. Acceleration to 100 km / h in 7.0 seconds, maximum speed of 235 km / h. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle on a 6-speed manual box is 6.1 l / 100 km, while using an 8-speed automatic - 5.7 l / 100 km.
CO2 emissions are 142 (134) g / km respectively. The most powerful BMW M235i has a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine with 326 hp. at 5,800–6,000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1,300–4,500 rpm. Acceleration to 100 km / h takes five seconds (4.8 seconds with an 8-speed automatic).
The maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h. Fuel consumption will be 8.1 (7.6) l / 100 km with CO2 emissions - 189 (176) g / km. The diesel BMW 218d is equipped with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine with 143 hp. at 4000 rpm and 320 Nm of torque in the range of 1750–2500 rpm. It allows the car to accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.9 seconds (8.6 seconds with an optional 8-speed automatic). The maximum speed is 213 km / h. The fuel consumption is 4.3–4.5 (4.2–4.4) l / 100 km.
CO2 emissions are 114 (119) g / km. The BMW 220d is equipped with the same 2.0-liter diesel engine, but with more power of 184 hp. at 4000 rpm and 380 Nm of torque in the range of 1750–2750 rpm. With him, the coupe accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.2 seconds (7.1 seconds from the automatic transmission) and 230 km / h to the highest level. The average fuel consumption is 4.5 l / 100 km with mechanics or 4.2 l / 100 km with 8-speed gearbox. CO2 emissions average of 125 (117) g / km.
The BMW 225d also uses a 2.0-liter TwinPower, but already spun up to 218 hp. at 4,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1,500–2,500 rpm. Additional power allows the model to overcome the mark of 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is 242 km / h. Fuel consumption 4.7 l / 100 km. CO2 emissions are 124 g / km. Bavarians considered that the all-wheel drive system, which the “one” has, is irrelevant for the “two”, and therefore the coupe is strictly rear-wheel drive. True, all modifications have electronic imitation of differential lock. Chassis in the “dvushki” with McPherson front struts and rear multi-link suspension.
The developers, not without pride, report that they managed to achieve perfect weight distribution along the 50:50 axes, and this means that you can expect exceptional driving characteristics from the “dvushka”. As before, customers will be available packages Sport Line, Modern Line and M Sport.
